Some people ask for clothes, some ask for a new pony . . . if you’re Lillian Rhyner, you ask for donations to a nonprofit for your birthday.
In celebration of turning 90 years old, Mrs. Rhyner requested her friends and family turn in monetary and in kind donations to a local charity. Of all the charities they could have chosen, the UFRC was the one to receive $500 (including gift cards).
From Lillian’s birthday flyer:
“In lieu of presents, Lillian/Mom/Grandma has asked that you bring a nonperishable food item, a donation, or a gift card to be given to a local food bank.”
We are so grateful for the kindness Mrs. Rhyner has shown us. In those kind actions, we see an important message. Sometimes the best gift you can receive, is the gift of giving.
