Even though the Christmas season is a fading memory at this time of year, the effects of our community’s generosity over the past year linger in my thoughts. Well before the Christmas rush began, the Upstate Family Resource Center was blessed by the philanthropic deeds of others. Businesses donated time to paint rooms, do yard work, and donate food as well as financial resources. Civic groups also helped with projects on campus and donated food to our pantry. Our schools – elementary to secondary have raised money and organized successful food drives. During the holiday season churches, social clubs, families and businesses have made Christmas possible for many in our community. Thank you to all of you who have given so unselfishly this past year.
As we look to the year ahead, there are many unknowns. The faces of those in need of assistance have already changed. We would like to ask that everyone continue to maintain the open heart and generous spirit that is already characteristic of our community. Times will undoubtedly continue to challenge families, businesses and our community as a whole, but by working together and continuing to give time, talents and financial resources whenever possible, our community will not only withstand the times ahead, but grow stronger together because of them.
