David Rivera joined the Center as our new AmeriCorps VISTA working with
Community Development and Financial Stability. He is approaching his senior year at the University of South Carolina-Columbia and majoring in Public Administration and Public Policy. He has grown up in the Boiling Springs/Spartanburg area and feels very strongly about staying local and giving back to his own community. This year he plans to focus his energy on building up the UFRC to its full potential. He has actively
volunteered at multiple nonprofits around the upstate and is looking forward to helping our communities grow as a whole.
Tina Hughes came to Upstate Family Resource Center through the AARP Senior
Program that staffs clients in local non-profits and now has joined the staff as an
AmeriCorps Member. She feels that her biggest accomplishment is her two children. They have grown up to be kind and compassionate human beings. Tina plans to
continue to work in the non-profit arena while she goes back to college to study law and legality so that she can continue to help people less fortunate. She lives in Spartanburg and enjoys going camping, four-wheeling and riding a motorcycle.
