Each year, Packs 4 Kids aims to send Spartanburg School District 2 students back to school with all the supplies they will need for a successful year. This year, we are celebrating our largest Packs 4 Kids giveaway ever! Over the course of two weeks, more than 550 kids were handed a new book bag filled with grade appropriate supplies.
With social distancing guidelines in place, our pickup procedure looked a little different this year. Parents registered online and made an appointment to drive through and pick up their supplies. Thanks to the help of volunteers, this process went very smoothly and parents were able to quickly and safely get their child’s supplies.
Sending kids back to school can be stressful enough, but this year, with all the uncertainty in the world, we were especially happy to provide some support and relief for families. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of churches and other community members who donated financially, as well as the volunteers who gave of their time. We want to give a big shout out to Contec, Milliken, United Way of the Piedmont, Ivey Communications, Broad River Electric, United Methodist of the Covenant, New Beginnings United Methodist Church, and First Baptist Church of Campobello, Springs of Grace Lutheran and Boiling Springs First Baptist. Thanks to these generous donations, we were able to assist children attending Spartanburg School District 1 schools for the first time as well!
We are so thankful for our community’s support! We would not be able to help families thrive without YOU!
